What is Veteran Light Therapy?
Operation Rubix provides assistance to Sarasota area veterans to find programs to help them with mental health healing and awareness. There are both therapeutic services and counseling available for individuals and groups. One service available to our vets is light therapy.
Light therapy is a technique where specific wavelengths of light are targeted on areas of chronic pain or other physical ailments, releasing nitric oxide and other chemicals into the damaged areas. Nitric oxide acts as a vasodilator, increasing blood flow to the area and reducing inflammation. Some medical conditions which have benefited from light therapy include:
- Neuropathy
- Circulation problems
- Traumatic brain injury
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Sleep problems
- Wound healing
- Muscle and tendon damage
- Concussions
- Stroke
- Dementia
- and other conditions
Operation Rubix is associated with Vivie Bishop, 2020 Rose Street in Sarasota, who is both a life coach and is certified in Light Therapy. She uses a Type II device cleared by the FDA for increasing circulation and reducing pain. Light Therapy is non-invasive, requires no drugs or other compounds, and has been shown repeatedly to offer relief from chronic pain. Studies have also been done with traumatic brain injuries in veterans showing great relief in their symptoms and increases in cognitive performance over time.
