Work Through Post-Deployment Stress with These Tips

Post-deployment can be a difficult time, but you don’t have to go it alone. Instead of trying to deal with the stress by yourself, consider seeking services provided by Operation Rubix. With these services and the following tips, you can work through post-deployment stress.

The first tip to deal with post-deployment stress is to prepare for secondary trauma. You may feel on edge after returning home. If you feel edgy at times, consider seeking mental health resources to help you feel more present and relaxed during your day to day life.

Next, education is power. Once you return home, it is a good idea to educate your loved ones about your experiences serving our country. Explain the experiences that had a significant impact on you so your friends and family can understand where you are coming from.

If you are in a relationship, the third tip to deal with post-deployment stress is making time to be a couple with your significant other. A good way to relax and ground yourself after serving in our military is by reconnecting with your loved ones, especially your significant other.

Support groups are an outstanding way to relieve post-deployment stress. By sharing your experiences with your peers, you can feel less alone. Support groups allow you to get your feelings off of your chest and share these feelings with people who understand exactly what you’re going through. It is also helpful to listen to others and offer your assistance to help them through their own post-deployment stress.
