Improve with Sarasota Adaptive Rowing Therapy
One of the many therapy options available through Operation Rubix in Sarasota is adaptive rowing. This is provided by Sarasota Adaptive Rowing Therapy (SARP) who helps disabled veterans and other disabled athletes with training in the Paralympic sport of rowing.
SARP’s mission is to provide these disabled athletes and veterans with year-round activities to improve their physical fitness and mental stimulation through rowing. They also help disabled adults to develop positive community connections to help them through their lives. They have a goal to:
- Recruit disabled veterans and others from Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte Counties in Florida to gain skills in rowing
- Provide these disabled adults the opportunity to learn and practice the skills of rowing with professional coaching in a safe and supportive environment
SARP was founded in 2010 and has steadily grown from twice monthly training sessions to twice weekly. The program has helped disabled veterans improve their physical strength, balance, and mobility. SARP has also developed a relationship with the Sarasota County Rowing Club and has received certification for adaptive rowing training from the United States Rowing Association.
Operation Rubix is proud of our association with SARP and other organizations who help disabled veterans. Our goal is to find resources and support disabled veterans with their mental health awareness and healing. To accomplish this we partner with outside organizations and individuals who can provide services to disabled veterans in the Sarasota County area. For a more specific list of our resources, check out the therapy options available on our website.
It is important for veterans, disabled or not, to realize that their health, safety, and healing can be helped by Operation Rubix. We also offer services to support the families of veterans who also suffer stress and mental health issues as a result of their veterans’ injuries. If you are a veteran who needs help or know someone who does, contact us through our website using this form, or call us at 941-330-4240.
